XXXXL size is 4XL, the fourth step up from XL (XL, XXL, XXXL, XXXXL). On a UK or US body chart it fits a chest of about 56 to 58 inches (142 to 147 cm), and some brands cut it as large as 60 inches (152 cm). For women it sits around US 28 to 30.
That is a wide spread, and it is not a mistake on this page. XXXXL has no official measurement. Marks & Spencer, Van Heusen and an Indian brand like U.S. Polo Assn. all print different numbers under the same label, so below you will find each chart, what it actually measures, and which one to trust for what you are buying.
Quick answer

XXXXL size chart for men (inches and cm)
XXXXL size chart numbers for men are body measurements, so they describe the chest you have, not the shirt you buy. This table comes from the Marks & Spencer men’s size guide. It is the one chart we found that runs XL to 5XL with chest, waist and collar in the same place.
| Size | Chest | Waist | Shirt collar |
| XL | 46 in (117 cm) | 39–41 in (99–104 cm) | 17 in |
| XXL / 2XL | 48–50 in (122–127 cm) | 42–44 in (107–112 cm) | 17.5–18 in |
| XXXL / 3XL | 52–54 in (132–137 cm) | 45–47 in (114–119 cm) | 18.5–19 in |
| XXXXL / 4XL | 56–58 in (142–147 cm) | 48–50 in (122–127 cm) | 19.5–20 in |
| 5XL | 60–62 in (152–157 cm) | 51–53 in (130–135 cm) | 20.5–21 in |
Going from XXXL to XXXXL adds about four inches to the chest and three to the waist. Going on to 5XL adds another four on the chest.
Do other brands agree?
Other brands do not agree with each other, and the gap matters if you are near the top of a range.
| Brand | 3XL / XXXL | 4XL / XXXXL | What the chart says |
| Marks & Spencer (UK) | 52–54 in | 56–58 in | Body chest |
| Van Heusen / IZOD (US), 3XB and 4XB | 54–56 in | 58–60 in | Chest, as listed |
| Champro sportswear (US) | 54–56 in | 58–60 in | Chest, as listed |
| U.S. Polo Assn. India | 133 cm (52.4 in), tag 48 | 138 cm (54.3 in), tag 50 | Chest, body or garment not stated |
The UK and US charts sit within two inches of each other. The Indian label runs lower. U.S. Polo Assn. lists its XXXXL chest at 138 cm, which is 54.3 inches, and its chart does not say whether that is the body or the garment. If it is the garment, a shirt that size is too small for a 56 inch chest. If it is the body, the size is simply cut for a smaller person than M&S’s 4XL. Either way, do not pick a size from the tag alone.
XXXXL size for women (US, UK and bust in inches)
XXXXL size for women usually means US 28 to 30, and that is how Target’s plus-size chart labels the step, as 4X. The numbers below are body measurements from that chart.
| Target label | US size | Bust | Waist | Hip |
| XXL | 17 | 45.5 in (115.6 cm) | 40.5 in | 48.25 in |
| 1X | 18 | 47.5 in (120.7 cm) | 43 in | 50.5 in |
| 2X | 20–22 | 49.5–51.5 in (125.7–130.8 cm) | 45–47 in | 52.75–55 in |
| 3X | 24–26 | 53.5–55.5 in (135.9–141 cm) | 49–51 in | 57.25–59.5 in |
| 4X (XXXXL) | 28–30 | 57.5–59.5 in (146.1–151.1 cm) | 53–55 in | 61.75–64 in |
UK women’s sizes run about four numbers above the US, so US 28 to 30 is around UK 32 to 34. One more thing to watch: plus ranges (4X) are often cut with extra room through the bust, waist and hip compared with a straight-size XXXXL, so two shops can sell you very different garments under the same label. Read the bust measurement, not the letters.
XXXXL size in India – why the number on the tag is not your chest
XXXXL size in India is usually printed as a letter plus a number on the tag, and the number is a label, not inches. U.S. Polo Assn. India, for example, tags XXXXL as 50 and lists the chest like this:
| Letter | Tag number | Chest listed |
| XL | 44 | 121 cm (47.6 in) |
| XXL | 46 | 127 cm (50 in) |
| XXXL | 48 | 133 cm (52.4 in) |
| XXXXL | 50 | 138 cm (54.3 in) |
| XXXXXL | 52 | 141 cm (55.5 in) |
The brand adds that its measurements carry a tolerance of 1.27 cm, half an inch. Tag numbers are also not standard across Indian labels, so a 50 from one brand can fit differently from a 50 at another. Find the chest line on the product page, check whether it says body or garment, and if it does not say, ask the seller or go one size up.
XXXXL size in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nigeria
XXXXL size in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nigeria follows the same rule as India: the brand’s own chart beats the label. Local brands publish a chart per product, and those charts do not always match each other. Treat the chest or bust line as the truth and the letter as a rough guide. A lot of what people buy in these markets is also imported through online marketplaces, which brings its own sizing problem, covered next. Country pages with brand-by-brand charts are coming.
XXXXL size on marketplaces – why imported clothes run small
XXXXL size on a marketplace listing can mean almost anything. Two listings we looked at on Walmart’s marketplace, both labelled XXXXL, gave a 125 cm chest (49 inches) for a men’s t-shirt and 140 cm (55 inches) for a women’s hoodie. That is 15 cm apart on the same label.
The fix is boring but it works. Ignore the letter, find the measurement table on the listing, and compare its chest line with your own tape measurement. If the listing has no table, skip it.
XXXXL size 18, 12, 15 and 20 – what the numbers mean
XXXXL size 18 is usually a mix-up, not a size. Searches like xxxxl size 12, 15 or 20 come from the same confusion: a number on a label measures different things depending on the garment. Find your number here.
| The number you saw | What it usually is |
|---|---|
| 2 | US women’s size 2 is XS (Target) |
| 10 | US women’s size 10 is M |
| 12 | US women’s size 12 is L, bust 40 in |
| 14 | US women’s size 14 is L, bust 41.5 in |
| 15 | A 15 in shirt collar is Medium (M&S: 15–15.5 in) |
| 16 | US women’s 16 is XL. A 16 in men’s collar is Large |
| 18 | US women’s 18 is 1X, bust 47.5 in. An 18 in men’s collar is 2XL |
| 20 | US women’s 20 is 2X, bust 49.5 in. A 20 in men’s collar is 4XL |
| 28–30 | US women’s 28–30 is 4X, which is XXXXL |
So XXXXL size 18 is not a standard pairing. Some imported listings print US 18 next to a plus-size letter label (one we saw paired with a 5XL and a 124 cm bust), but on real body charts US 18 is a 1X. Kids’ size 18 is another scale again and changes between stores. A child in size 18 usually lands around youth XL to adult small or medium, nowhere near 4XL.
XXXL vs XXXXL vs 4XL – what the labels mean
XXXXL means XXXX-Large, and it is the same size as 4XL. The two are just different ways of writing it: XXL is 2XL, XXXL is 3XL, XXXXL is 4XL and XXXXXL is 5XL. If you are wondering how big a 3XL is, M&S puts XXXL size at a 52 to 54 inch chest, one step below XXXXL.
XXXL size for women is closer to US 24 to 26, which Target calls 3X. And if you are asking what size XXL is, it is the step before that: 48 to 50 inches on the same M&S men’s chart.
4XL size in number, inches and cm
4XL size in number is a 56–58 inch chest and a 48–50 inch waist for men on the M&S body chart. 4XL size in number for ladies is US 28 to 30, with a 57.5 – 59.5 inch bust on Target’s chart, where it is sold as 4X. In inches and cm, that is a chest of 56–58 in (142–147 cm) and a waist of 48–50 in (122–127 cm). Brands vary, so read these as ranges, not promises.
4XL size means XXXX-Large, one size above 3XL and one below 5XL.
XXXXL size jerseys (cricket and football)
XXXXL size jerseys are where the label is least reliable. On the IPL replica jerseys we checked online, a 4XL was listed as a 48 to 50 inch chest. On the M&S body chart that is a 2XL. One buyer review on a jersey listing said the seller’s 4XL measured like an XL.
For cricket jerseys, lay the jersey flat, measure armpit to armpit and double it. As a rule of thumb, pick a jersey whose chest is at least two inches more than yours, because sports cuts vary. That works for men’s, women’s and boys’ sizes alike. Kids’ jerseys are usually sold by age or by chest, not by XXXXL, so if a listing says boys XXXXL, read the measurement table first.
XXXXL size football jerseys are cut differently from cricket jerseys at most brands, so a size does not carry over from one to the other.
XXXXL size for t-shirts, shirts, polos, kurtis, pants and dresses
XXXXL size is not one number across garments. What you measure changes with what you are buying.
| Garment | What to measure | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| T-shirts | Chest | Compare the listed chest with your own. Oversized cuts can run a size bigger than the label. |
| Shirts | Collar, then chest | A 4XL collar is 19.5–20 in on M&S’s chart. Buy by neck first. |
| Polo shirts | Chest | Check whether the chart is for a slim or a regular fit before choosing. |
| Kurtis and kurtas | Bust or chest | Many charts list the garment, not the body. Choose one with at least 2–3 in more than your bust. |
| Pants and trousers | Waist | Ignore the letter. M&S puts a 4XL waist at 48–50 in (122–127 cm), but pant tags differ a lot between brands. |
| Dresses | Bust, waist, hip | Use the women’s table above: 57.5–59.5 / 53–55 / 61.75–64 in for 4X. |
| Hoodies and jackets | Chest | Size for the layer you will wear underneath. |
4XL size jackets, winter jackets and raincoats go by chest, plus whatever you wear underneath. M&S says most tops and full-length garments are sized by chest, so a men’s 4XL jacket is cut for the same 56–58 inch chest as a shirt. A winter jacket sits over a sweater though, so check the listed chest is a few inches more than yours (a rule of thumb) and look at the sleeve length too. Raincoats and waterproof shells usually have little stretch, so if you are between sizes, go up.
For women, a 4XL suit, dress or kurti set follows the bust, waist and hip numbers in the women’s table above. If the listing only gives garment measurements, leave 2 to 3 inches of room.
How to measure for XXXXL
To measure for XXXXL you need a soft tape and about two minutes. Measure your body, not a shirt you are wearing. M&S’s own guide says body measurements are more accurate than measuring over clothes.
- Chest. Go around the fullest part, with the tape close up under the arms and level across your back.
- Waist. Find your natural waistline. For women, bend slightly to one side: the crease is where it sits.
- Collar. Measure around the base of the neck, where a collar sits.
- Hip (women and trousers). Go around the fullest part, feet together.
If you land between two sizes, take the bigger one.
XXXXL size nearby – finding 4XL clothes in a shop
XXXXL size nearby is a hard search because many shops stop at XXL or 3XL and keep 4XL stock online. A few habits save you a wasted trip.
- Check the brand’s own store locator first (U.S. Polo Assn. India has one), then call and ask whether the store has the size, not just the letter on the website.
- Ask for the measurement: what is the chest of your XXXXL? A shop that cannot answer probably cannot help.
- Big-and-tall and plus-size shops carry 4XL more reliably than general stores.
- A local tailor can stitch to your measurements, so you skip the labels entirely.
- Buying online? Look for cash on delivery and a return window. U.S. Polo Assn. India, for example, takes returns within 15 days if the item is unwashed and still has its tags.
If you are after XXXXL size jerseys nearby, try sports shops and ask to see the chest measurement before paying. Replica jerseys are the ones most likely to run small.
XXXXL size 2026, 2025, 2024 and 2027 – does the year change anything?
XXXXL size 2026 is the same size as XXXXL size 2025, 2024 or 2023. A 4XL does not change with the calendar, and a chart that claims it does is just putting a year in the title. What changes is the brand: charts get revised and new collections get cut differently. The same goes for XXXXL size 2027 when it comes around: the numbers only move if a brand changes its chart. The date at the top of this page tells you when we last checked.
Frequently Asked Questions About XXXXL Size
What size is XXXXL?
XXXXL is another way of writing 4XL. It generally refers to an extra-large plus-size category, but exact measurements depend on the brand and clothing type.
What is XXXXL size in inches?
There is no single measurement for every 4XL garment. For example, some men’s clothing charts list a chest measurement around 56–58 inches, while other brands may use different measurements. Always check the specific brand’s chart.
What is XXXXL size in CM?
The centimetre measurements vary by brand and garment. To convert inches to centimetres, multiply the measurement in inches by 2.54. For example, 56 inches is 142.24 cm.
Is XXXXL the same as 4XL?
Yes. XXXXL and 4XL are two common ways to write the same size label. However, the actual fit can differ between brands.
Is XXXXL the same as size 18 or 20?
Not necessarily. Clothing numbers such as US women’s sizes 18 and 20 belong to a different sizing system from letter sizes such as 4XL. The equivalent depends on the brand’s size chart.
How do I choose the correct 4XL size online?
Measure yourself accurately, compare your measurements with the seller’s size chart, and read the product’s fit description. Also check the return or exchange policy before placing your order.
Is XXXXL bigger than XXXL?
Yes. XXXXL (4XL) comes one size after XXXL (3XL). The exact measurement difference depends on the brand. For example, on the Marks & Spencer men’s chart, 3XL fits a 52–54 inch chest, while 4XL fits a 56–58 inch chest.
What is XXXXL size in India?
XXXXL size in India varies by brand. Some brands use a numerical tag alongside the 4XL label, but these numbers are not universal. Check the specific product’s size chart to confirm the correct chest measurement before ordering.
Why does my XXXXL clothing feel small?
XXXXL clothing may feel small because brands use different size charts, garment cuts, and fits. Compare your body measurements with the product’s size chart, and check whether it shows body measurements or the actual garment measurements.
Final Words (Always Choose the Right XXXXL Size)
XXXXL, also written as 4XL, is a clothing size used by many brands for plus-size apparel. However, the exact measurements can vary by brand, country, garment type, and fit. A 4XL T-shirt, shirt, hoodie, jersey, or kurti may not have the same measurements.
Before ordering, check the brand’s official size chart and confirm whether the listed measurements refer to your body or the garment itself. Measure your chest or bust, waist, and hips where relevant, then compare those measurements with the chart. If you are between sizes, consider the garment’s fit and the brand’s sizing instructions instead of automatically choosing a larger size.
Whether you are shopping in the USA, UK, India, Pakistan, or another country, the best XXXXL size is the one that matches your measurements and preferred fit, not just the number printed on the label.
